The Dresser!

I mentioned the fact that Grant is into everything now. Well, the pots and pans were really no surprise. I knew the day would come when my pans would be everywhere. However, I sort of didn't think about the dresser. I was putting clothes away and Grant was helping me reorganize them. Apparently, mom doesn't know how to put his bibs and sheets in his drawer the way he likes. I thought it was so cute. He was giggling with delight as he pulled each item out of the drawer. It was great fun.

I am a little sad that my baby will be one! It has gone by too fast. I don't want him to stay a baby forever, but I can't believe he is as big as he is. The phrase about "enjoying today" becomes really quite important when you have a child. I try not to push him into the next step like walking, but rather I try to enjoy the rough knees and dirty pants from crawling everywhere. Eventually he will be walking and then I will wish he would crawl.

Pots and Pans

The day has arrived! Grant is into everything now that he can crawl and stand up to things. He found the pots and pans. Oh glory be! He had a great time. He lost one of the handles in the cupboard and made so much noise it sounded like New Years Eve. The best part was that Kyle was so tired that he crashed on the couch and slept through the whole thing. When I should him the pictures he couldn't even believe that he had slept through such noise!

Christmas Morning

We had so much fun celebrating Grant's first Christmas. We had to open presents before we got dressed and ready for the day. I think it is a rule! Any way, Kyle and I bought each other a new tv two months before Christmas so the only unwrapping we did was peeling the protective tape off the side of the tv. Grant had a great time with his presents. He got a tool set and just loved it! He loved it so much that he shoved the screwdriver right down his throat within minutes of opening the tool set. Luckily Kyle got it on camera!

Little Hands

For the last little while Grant has liked to have things in his hands. It doesn't matter whether is is a car, toy fence, binki, or any other small object that will fit in his hands. Lately, he has really become attached to his donut rings. The other day he tried to pick up his bottle with both rings in his hands. It didn't work so well. Instead he took turns holding each ring. He is so silly!

Maybury's are Back in Business

This blog has been sorely neglected the last little while. November I have no excuse, just the fact that time slipped away from me. December however has been so very crazy. I have posted a few posts below to give you an idea of how busy we have been. Thank you for being so patient.

2008 has been a great year. I look forward to 2009 and all that will unfold this year. Here are my goals for this year:

1. Go this whole calender year without being pregnant.
2. Attend the temple once a month.
3. Be better about reading and studying the scriptures.
4. Run a 5K in 30 minutes or less.
5. Befriend and share my testimony with a non LDS neighbor or coworker.

I am hoping that by writing them down I will be more inclined to complete these goals.

I apologize if you didn't receive a Christmas letter from us this year and you normally do. I only mailed a handful. I just didn't get a chance to get everything organized. Please know that we love all of our friends and relatives. I love blogs because they keep everyone in touch. Thank you for everything you do! We hope you had a happy holiday!

I have managed to do a little bit of digital scrapbooking. I think it has helped my sanity. I thought I would share some of my favorite pages.

10 Months Old

Grant was 10 months old on Christmas Eve. I had these pictures taken just before Christmas. I thought they turned out so cute. He hated the suit and we never got the bow tie on him. Typical man though, hates being in dress clothes! I don't blame him. I think the same person who thought up the lame idea of nylons probably came up with ties too!

Christmas Cookies

Even though we were so busy this December some how I managed to find time to make cookies with Grant. A bunch of you fellow bloggers inspired me to let my child get a little messy and have some fun. So I gave Grant the measuring spoons and let him go to town. He had a great time eating the cookies and helping me make them. It was messy, but seeing your child have fun makes it all worth it. Thanks for the inspiration everyone!

Grant and Santa

Grant met Santa for the first time this year. He wasn't sure if he like Santa or not, but at least he didn't scream at him. Grant was facinated with his beard. It was cute. The pictures were a little over exposed which is frustrating, but oh well.

Festival of Trees

We went to the Festival of Trees this year. We have never been, but I think we will go again next year. The trees were beautiful. I couldn't stop taking pictures. I think I took pictures of every tree and ginger bread house there. I had to stop taking pictures by the time we got to the center pieces and wreaths. Grant thought the lights were beautiful and wanted to touch every thing. This Christmas has been fun having Grant here. He thinks Santa is the creapiest character ever. I love it!

December 8, 2008

The morning of December 8th is a morning I will never forget. We received a phone call at 4 AM that Kyle's father had just passed away. We rushed to the Davis Hospital, which was the longest drive of our lives, in utter shock. Grant was such a good man and he was way too young to pass. He loved his wife and three boys more than anything. He loved me like his own daughter. I always thought of him as a second dad. Baby Grant brought him so much joy! I can't tell you how happy I am that we named our son after such a wonderful man.


Kyle's father was a very talented man. He loved to work with his hands. He made our wedding cake and many other beautiful cakes. One of his favorite things was to carve wood. Grant made many things from wood, but my three favorite are the three carvings he made for his three sons. He insisted that these get done and he finished two of them in time to enter in the Weber Couny Fair. He won first place for both. Kyle's wasn't quite finished in time. I think that all three are very unique and magnificent. All of his three sons are so honored to have such a master piece made by their father.
