Creative Play

We are waiting for our home to sell.  Until it does we are renting a little apartment that is less than the size of our main level in our current home. Its nice and cozy.  I love it that I can clean the ENTIRE place in less than an hour.  I only have one bathroom and two bedrooms to clean.  I love it.  I do miss my personal space, storage space, large kitchen, our big king bed, the 3 car garage, a pantry, extra freezer, and a lot more.  I am doing ok because it is only temporary.  

With that being said we have found fun ways to play and be creative with our living space.  Grant thinks it is hilarious to be in the top of his closet.  

We like to dance and stomp like dinosaurs.

We also play adapted basketball.  Just look at the way he shoots.  I caught his hands right after he shot the ball.  I love the way his hands roll.  He is such a natural.  The way he lets the ball roll right off his hands.

A Day at the Zoo

Look at this cheese!  This is one happy boy at the zoo.

We loved the penguins. It was fun to watch them swim around.

Look!  I am as big as an Emperor Penguin.

This turtle is huge!  It has been at the zoo for about 80 years.  He will be here longer than the rest of us.  These guys live forever!

Grant liked the dragon, but I think he was expecting it to be more like the cartoon dragons off of How To Train Your Dragon.   He thought it was pretty cool.

After an exciting afternoon at the zoo we had a picnic lunch at the park.  It got a little windy and cold.  We had a total blast.  The best part is the entrance fee is super cheep!  We will be back to visit again soon.

I Love Spring!

Riverwalk

Moving 300 miles away has been a little stressful on our entire family.  We did find some serenity in the river walk way about a half mile from our house.  We have never had a chance to live so close to the river and do so much exploring.  Just look at all the new possibilities.

We find big sticks.

We did for rocks.

We are the king of the stump.

We ride our bike to and fro.

We ride through shade and sun.

We love dandelions.

We pick them and spread the seeds everywhere we go.

We wear sticks on our heads as deer horns.

Sticks that make good deer horns is one of our favorite things to find.  Why? You will have to read I Wish That I Had Duck Feet by Dr. Suess to understand why we like deer horns so much.

Easter Sunday

I love Easter!  I know it is not the most popular holiday, but it is one of my favorites.  I bought Grant new Easter/Sunday/Church clothes this year.  However, our stake conference fell on Easter Sunday this year and so I didn't end up dressing Grant in his new outfit.  Now it is almost a month past Easter and I just realized he hasn't worn it yet.  Silly me!  I guess Easter clothes fall into the "want" not "need" category.  When I do get him in his new outfit I will take pictures.

Boys Will Be Boys

We are all going to miss our home, neighbors, family and friends when we move.  Grant has especially enjoyed our neighborhood because there are so many kids his age.  One of his good friends is just about 6 weeks younger than Grant.  Cooper and Grant didn't always get along because they were so close in age, but as they get older they enjoy each other more and more.  Cooper got an awesome tractor for his birthday.  He drives around the neighborhood like maniac.  For nearly 3 days Grant was scared to death of the thing and wouldn't go near it.   He obviously got over his fear.

I like this last one is one of my favorites because they are trying to fill up the battery operated tractor with gas.  

The Little Green Bike

Grant got this awesome green bike for his birthday back in February.  He hadn't been able to ride it until just recently.  If you look closely this bike is missing a key feature: pedals!  This is called a pedal less bike. A physical therapist I work for talked me into getting this type of bike.  The theory behind this bike is that kids learn how to steer and balance first.  Then you introduce pedals and wha-lah!  The kiddo can ride a bike without ever having to use training wheels.  These bikes are pretty popular in Europe and it was a little hard to find one.  (If you want one let me know and I will give you the best place.)
I felt like this would be a good route for Grant.  He is so cautious when it comes to things like this and I figure if we went the "traditional" route we would be about 10 years old before the training wheels ever came off.
He loves riding his bike.  He likes being able to keep up with the older dare devils in the neighborhood.   The more he rides the bike the more comfortable he feels and will start picking up his feet.  This is good since this is how he will learn how to balance.

Easter: Maybury

I loved that Easter was later in the spring this year.  Look at how beautiful the weather was!  We had a great time celebrating Easter with the Maybury family.   I think the pictures can do most of the talking for how much fun it was!
