These two love birds tied the knot on May 20th.  It was a beautiful day!  This year and 8 years ago when Kyle and I were married.  They are such a darling couple.  It was fun to be part of their special day.

Since Kyle's dad did wedding cakes it is still kind of tradition to take pictures of the cake.  It was a pretty cake.

This is Grant helping decorate the lovebird's car.  They were putting cookies on the car, which Grant thought was the silliest thing anyone has ever done....

so he ate the cookies instead.

Crochet Project

I taught myself to crochet about a year ago.  It was kind of a whim.  I looked up some "how to" videos on youtube to learn.  I watched a few videos and wa-lah!  

This is actually my second afghan I have  done.  I didn't get pictures of the first one because I finished it about 2 minutes before the baby shower.

This afghan was a lot of fun. It was fun to do the waves.  The only thing I didn't like about this afghan was the yarn.  The orange was thicker than the green or blue.  It made the whole thing go a little lumpy.  I don't know why it was the case.  I bought the same brand of yarn for each color.  Oh, well.  I still think it is pretty cute.

Riding to the Park

Two weeks ago we were down in Ogden.  Grant and Evy went for a wagon ride to the park.

They each pretended to be deer with big horns.

Granny bought us new jammies.  It was so much fun to play and be silly.

Small Things Made Large

I thoroughly enjoyed our Relief Society lesson on Sunday.  Our bishop is completely inspired.  I will try and give a quick summary.

Bishop Ahlquist started out by talking about how we all have ups and downs in life.  There are days, minutes, weeks, or months when we feel like we can't make it one more day.  We feel discouraged and hopeless at these points in our lives.  When we feel like giving up it is Satan telling us we can't make it any more.  Satan wants us to feel discouraged and helpless.  He wants us to give up. It is up to us to get up and keep going.  It is our choice to keep going and moving forward.

Our Bishop wanted us to know how much our Heavenly Father loves us.  He doesn't want us to give up.  We are never alone.

Then the Bishop led into why daily life gets us down.  Sometimes it is not events at all, but rather just daily life.  We all get frustrated and overwhelmed with our spouses, kids, jobs, coworkers, friends, callings, work, school, etc.  There is always something we are worried about.  We often have unexpected events and tasks that come up that interrupt our routines.  It is how we deal with these interruptions and changes that make the difference.

Bishop Ahlquist further explained that when we focus on these little interruptions and changes they become big and unbearable.  I love this concept.  I thought of how this concept applies to my own life.
Kyle and I have a good marriage.  We get along most of the time.  However, there are times when we don't agree.  There are times when we get on each others nerves.  It is usually never anything big, but it can seem big.  I find when I focus on the little irritating things Kyle does I go crazy.  I am not happy with our marriage at all. I am impatient and rude to my dear husband.  This doesn't go over very well.  Kyle then becomes irritated with me and our home is not a happy place.

When I don't focus on the small irritating things but rather the good things our marriage is 200 times better.  Instead I stay positive and focus on the good things Kyle does.  It is choice I have to make every day.  I have to choose which things I am going to focus on.  I can choose to be grateful Kyle cooked dinner last night or I can choose to nag about having to do the dishes.  I choose to be grateful for Kyle putting Grant to bed or complain about the clothes he didn't put away.

I appreciated Bishop Ahlquist for reminding me to stay positive and not focus on the negative things in life.  It isn't always easy to find the positive in every situation.  But I know that whatever I focus on becomes large and surmountable.  I hope you kind find the positive in everything every day!  It is up to each of us to choose the positive in every situation.

Dani & Gabe

Kyle's cousin Danielle married her sweet heart on May 14th in the Salt Lake Temple.  It was cloudy and trying to rain, but no rain came down until later in the afternoon.  The sealing was beautiful!  Everything was beautiful.

The flowers on temple square are absolutely perfect!  I could have spent an hour just taking pictures of just the flowers.

These pansy boxes were Cindy and my favorite.  I love how every box is different coordinating colors.  I couldn't get enough of all the colors.

The reception turned out beautiful as well.  The refreshments were perfect, the weather was wonderful, and the bride and groom were both so happy.

Grant and his second cousin Chloe are only about 2 months apart.  They enjoy playing together at big family events.

The cake turned out just gorgeous!  It was so elegant.

The cousins got the car all decorated!  I think they liked the toilet paper a little much. 

Overall, it was a wonderful day.  It was nice to spend the day with such a happy couple.  Congratulations to Dani and Gabe.

Favorite Pastime

Bowling!  Bowling is our favorite pastime these days.   We are total nerds and have our own balls and shoes.  Kyle and I joined a league for a few months.  I still suck!  My scores range from 44 to 111.  Kyle on the other hand can score between 150 and 265.  He is pretty sweet.  Grant loves to come bowling too.

The Book of Mormon

The Book of Mormon for Latter-Day Saint Families by Joseph Smith Jr.
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I don't know how anyone can read this book and not feel the power of God.  This book would get 20 stars just based on the truths and application in our daily lives.  I have read this book multiple times and will continue to read this book throughout the rest of my life.  I find new application to my daily life with ever read.  I love this book so much.  I am so grateful Joseph Smith translated this book so we can enjoy the testimonies of our forefathers.  This book has given me so much guidance and inspiration. I recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a little more purpose and love in their lives.


This edition is a LOT longer than the original version.  However, this edition is also so much more informative.  There are side quotes from latter day prophets and other resources from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  It really helps apply the scriptures to your own daily lives.  I will be reading this edition again.  It is a great resource for any member.
