This is my first book by this author.  I thought it was a well thought out novel.  I really liked the story of betrayal and the search for justice.  The author did a good job moving the story along and keeping the reader intrigued.  There were some side facts and comments that seemed somewhat irrelevant, but overall a delightful read.
I really liked how the author closed up the story at the end.  I didn't feel like I was left hanging.  Everything got summed up nicely.
Clean book.  I would recommend this book.

Cozumel

Kyle and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary on May 20th.  We wanted to do something fun for our anniversary and so we decided to go on a cruise!  We had so much fun!  It took me a couple of days to really relax and stop worrying about the kids.  It was senseless worry since I knew my mom would take good care of them.  I was glad I was in the middle of the ocean with no cell phone service.  It helped me be able to relax.

We flew into Miami on Saturday, May 31 and spent the night in Miami.  Our cruise set sail on June 1st.  Monday was a day at sea and we just relaxed and took it easy on the boat.  

On Tuesday we stopped at the port of Cozumel, Mexico.  We took a small ferry from the port to another part of the cost.  We then took a small tour bus to the beach.  When we got out of the bus this huge iguana was hanging out in the parking lot.   I would say it was about 3 feet long.  

  

We got our snorkel gear on and when snorkeling out in the ocean!  We were able to see about a dozen different sea turtles.  We saw at least two different species of sea turtles.  It was so much fun!  The ocean was really choppy, which made it really difficult to swim.  Kyle and I held on to each other the whole time because we were both a little nervous about getting sucked out to sea.  

After about an hour we took the bus to two Cenotes which means fresh water caves in Spanish.  Most people scuba dive in the caves, but we just snorkeled.  It was AWESOME!  I didn't get any pictures because there was no where to take my camera.  We swam through one of the larger caves and went back to a bat cave.  It was really cool, but a little scary.  There were stalagmites and stalactites we had to swim around and sometimes we only had about 15 inches of clearance.  It was also really dark! We have never seen anything like it!  It was amazing!

Afterwards we had lunch on the beach.  We would have liked to play in the ocean a little more, but it was really windy.  The swells in the ocean also made it a little scary.   We just put our feet in the sand.    I love the smell and feel of the ocean.  It is just magnificent to me!  I wish it had been a little better weather.  

The ocean is so pretty!  I tried to capture how blue the water is.  The picture doesn't due it justice.  It was incredible.  This is looking back at Cozumel from our ship.

The Midwife of Hope River

This book was amazing! I couldn't put this book down. Before I go any further though I would like to say the book is a little graphic. My husband would get sick just by reading lines over my shoulder. He doesn't do well with descriptive birth stories. If you are a nurse or don't mind descriptive details of child birth this book is for you!

With that being said I think that is why I liked this book so much. It was descriptive. I could tell the author had experience with child birth because the details were so profound and realistic. I could relate to almost all of the mother's because I am a mother and I have experienced child birth. 

I cried when the mothers lost their babies and I laughed when they would yell or do funny things during delivery. 

I loved the side story and the story of how Patience became such a strong and independent woman. 

I would recommend this story if you don't mind a little "blood and guts," but like I said before it isn't violent. Just graphic. No swearing and no sex scenes.

Three Teeth

On May 28th, Celeste cut her first top tooth.  She now has three teeth.  She has been miserable the last two days.  She has four front teeth that are all really close to cutting through.  I hope they hurry.  I hate teething babies.  They are so miserable.   I tried to get a picture of all those teeth, but all I got were silly faces and smiles.  I love her pretty eyes.  

Peek-A-Boo

Celeste has loved peek-a-boo for a long time, but on May 20th she figured out how to play herself.  She was so proud of herself. 

"where's Celeste?  where is she?"

The Hit

Oh, how I love Baldacci! I didn't realize this was the second Will Robie series until I was already more than half way through. It didn't ruin the story. Still loved it! I think Baldacci is such an amazing author. 

I loved Robie and his determination. I also loved the small love triangle between Robie and Vance. 

I usually love Orla Cassidy as a female reader, but this time I didn't like the way she did Julie. It was too whiny for me. It is the only reason I am giving this book four stars. I am going to go back and read the The Innocent instead of listening to it, just so I don't get too much whiny voice. 

No sex and no swearing. (maybe one or two words, but no more than that) Highly recommend this book!

Miss Celeste

Celeste is the funniest little girl.  She loves attention and loves the camera.  She has started liking her own spoon to hold during meals.  She is so proud of herself when she can get food in her mouth.  Just look at this grin.  Doesn't it just light up your day?  I love how she poses too.  She tilts her head back and to the side.
