To My Fellow Bloggers

I have had so much fun reading all of your updates and looking at all of the awesome pictures. I love the updates on pregnancies, the newborns, vacations, and just everyday activities. The problem is that I get on the computer to check all the updates and by the time I read everyone else's blog I don't have time to update my own. We have had a great time in the last few weeks. I have tons of pictures. I just need to load them up so I can share.
Thank you everyone for posting such fun pictures! I love keeping up on all of my friends and family. Especially the ones who live so far away! I love you all!

It Pays to Procrastinate! (literally)

For the first time in my life the planets aligned and everything has fallen into place. OK, so it probably isn't the first time, but it has been a really long while.

A few weeks ago I was really down in the dumps. I am a SLP and in order to keep my "certificate" to continue being a SLP I have to earn 30 ceu's (continuing education units) every 3 years. My credits are due at the end of this year. I called ASHA (the SLP organization I hate) to see how many credits they have for me. The man said, "you have 9 credits." I said, "9 credits for the year or 9 credits total?" He said, " well, 4 credits from 2007 and 5 credits from 2008."

This is when my jaw fell to the floor and I couldn't speak. This means that I have to earn 21 credits by December 31! Holy Cow! I had no idea how I was going to do this. It seemed impossible.

When I got home I got online and started looking for classes to take to earn some credits. This is when I found this awesome website to earn the credits I needed.

A few days later we were sitting in staff meeting (my least favorite thing in the world) and my boss tells us about this grant we received. If we complete some training and do a few other things we can earn up to $1500!

Yesterday, I got my ducks in a row and this is the plan. I am going to complete the 21 credits I need for this year. Then I am going to complete the 30 credits I need for the next 3 years. Make a few handouts and do a presentation. I have until June 30, 2010. Then I get $1500!
It pays to procrastinate! I am the luckiest person in the world!

It Does Matter

My friend posted this on her blog and I love the message. I find myself getting caught up with things that don't matter in life. Tonight I left the dishwasher full of clean dishes and a sink full of dirty dishes. I have a half of a load of laundry in the dryer. My toilets are filthy. And the list goes on... Why? Because I wanted to spend time with Grant. We played outside for a while and read a few stories together.
I am so far from perfect it isn't even funny. If I was perfect I wouldn't be in Kyle's dog house right now. I want to be a better mother and wife. I have tried lately to work on being a better friend. It is the friendships in life that I think are the most important in life. I love you all! I hope this messages inspires you like it did for me.

The Whooby Syndrome

Kyle has had a special blanket his entire life. Actually he has burned threw quite a few blankets, but he can't sleep with out a "cold blanket" on his ear. The thought of having a COLD blanket was always backwards to me, but that is how he likes his blanket. When Kyle was younger his father would get upset if he went to the freezer to get ice cream and found a smelly old blanket instead.
When we were dating the blanket always took the "third wheel" in our relationship. In the winter Kyle's blanket would get warm from the heater and sitting on my lap. (I try to stay warm in the winter.) Kyle on the other hand liked the feel of a cold blanket on his ear. So I would I would sit in the truck with my teeth chattering while Kyle held his blanket out the window.
In the summer the blanket would get warm from sitting in the car. We would be sweating from the hot summer heat, but we couldn't enjoy the cold air from the air conditioner until the blanket was cold. I always thought it was funny. I think it was one reason I fell in love with him. Kyle wasn't ever ashamed of having a blanket. I stole it once as a joke and to this day NO ONE has ever seen him so mad. (We don't mess with the blanket.)
I am afraid to admit that this blanket syndrome is genetic. Don't believe me well look!

The blanket sits with Grant in the high chair.

The blanket goes to bed with Grant.

The blanket takes naps with Grant.

Two blankets makes Grant happy.

The blanket eats with Grant.

I think we could say, "like father like son!"

A Birthday Wish

I have always loved my birthday being at the beginning of September. It always falls close to Labor Day, which means I usually get a long weekend away from work. This year my birthday was different then previous years. I think the older I get the more my perspective on life changes.

In stead of material things I would rather have...

1. the whole day to spend out in my garden. I love to dig in dirt (I don't like to be dirty so I wear gloves) but I love making beautiful things grow.

2. endless hours with Grant. I can play with Grant all day long. He is my love and joy.

3. time to read. I love to read. I really love to read mysteries.

4. bottomless chips and salsa. So this is a material item, but I love to eat salsa and chips. I eat it every day!

5. more energy to run. I learned to love running in the last year. It is a great chance to clear my mind.

6. the motivation to get out of bed. I hate getting up early in the morning, but I know I get so much done when I do.

Just a few simple things I think.

I am really serious about being able to get out of bed on time. I used to bribe myself with The Office. If I got up on time I could watch an episode of The Office. The problem is it just isn't rewarding enough any more. Three or four views of each episode made them lose a little umph! I have tried to reward my waking up on time with facebook and blogger. The problem there is I get on to do other things and my little fingers will just end up clicking the 'facebook' icon. I have a serious issue. Any ideas?

Bubble, Bubble, Bubble

When I was a child I remember my first bubble bath being at my Grandma's. I thought it was awesome! I remember having countless bubble baths as a child. It was always so much fun to hide toys under the bubbles. Since I am such a cool mom I bought Grant ELMO bubble bath! He liked the bubbles, but wasn't quite sure what to do with them. It was cracking me up. After these pictures were taken he tried to eat them and it made him mad. Bubbles are very fun to play with, but not fun to eat. I am glad I got these pics before he got upset.

I love this picture because it shows his nice farmer tan. I can't believe how brown he is!

The Fair

I love summer for many reasons. This summer has been extra nice. I have taken a number of days off work to spend with my boy. On one of these days we went to the fair. It was so much fun. Grant found a drawing of Elmo on the side of a sheep pen. I have to say that crude drawing of Elmo was Grant's favorite part.
I love fairs. I know they are a little "red neck" but I love finding little crafts and jewelry. I also love to watch the people there. I could people watch for hours, but I have other things that are more important to do. One day when I am old I will go to the fair just to watch the people.
