The Newest Member of the Family

For about a week or so Grant kept talking about Kuku.  Kyle and I would ask probing questions about Kuku but would usually get vague answers.  For a week we kept hearing about this Kuku character, but didn't know who he was or what it was.  At first I thought it was a toy or animal friend at Grant's daycare.  I wasn't sure and couldn't figure Kuku out.  Finally, I got Grant to tell me about Kuku.  Kuku is a boy and he is 2 and a half.  He loves the color green, basketball, monster trucks, and other boy things.  We would hear Grant talking to someone and we would ask who he was talking to and he would always say Kuku.  I started to think that Kuku was an imaginary friend.  I thought it was kind of cute.  I encouraged it a little bit and after a few days I found out who Kuku really is.  He is Grant's little brother!  He is smaller than Grant and can't do all the things big boys can do and so Grant helps him.  Grant now tells people there are four members in his family.  The adults then look at me expectantly think I will make an announcement that we are expecting a baby.  It has made for some very interesting conversations over the last few days.  I also have had the experience of brushing Kuku's teeth, setting his place at the dinner table, washing him in the tub, and lots of other things little brother's need.  If you ask Grant to spell Kuku's name he will tell you "q-r-s-t-u-v."  It has been quite entertaining to say the least!

Pirate Island

Grant has been crazy about pirates lately.  We decided one weekend to go to this State Park for the day.    We knew that once we got there Grant would have a great time, but he didn't want to go.  So, we told him we were going to a pirate island.  He reluctantly decided to give it a try.  Needless to say he had a great time once we got there.  

We brought a picnic lunch and played for most of the afternoon.  

Grant has recently really started enjoying playground equipment.  He wanted to play, but it was so hot you could hardly touch anything with out getting burned.  He was sad because he really wanted to play.

We played a little frisbee.  Remember how in a previous post I said Grant was really good at sports. Well, that is a true statement as long as the sport includes a ball.  We tried to play frisbee and it wasn't as successful.

Give it up for Grant for problem solving and decided to turn around and see if that would help the direction of the throw.

We also played in the "clear blue" water.  There was a sign nearby that warned the water had low visibility after 5 feet.  I think it was a typo and should have read 5 inches. 

This picture is for my mom.  I have a picture of me when I was little squatting in Bear Lake.  This picture reminded me of that picture even if the water color isn't quite spot on.

A Short Fishing Trip

We decided one Saturday afternoon to go for a little drive.  We took the fishing stuff hoping we would find a small stream or pond to go fishing at.  Grant had been bugging us to take him fishing.  We ended up finding this swamp with big ugly fish in it.  We didn't catch anything, but I think that was partly due to Grant having to go potty about 20 minutes after we got there.  He refused to go in the bushes!  The trip got cut a little short because we had to head back to the gas station for a potty break.  I will be quite honest I was glad it was Grant's fault we didn't get to stay longer.  In the past I was always the one who would be done fishing and Kyle would want to stay longer.  

Grant thought it was so hilarious when he caught this big chunk of gunk off the bottom of the pond.  In his mind it was almost as exciting as a fish.

Little League Baseball

One night after work we played baseball.  Grant is a pretty good little hitter.  Now we have to take him to the park to play baseball.  He hit it over the fence on the left side of the picture three times in a row.  He is quite the little slugger!

I love how he has his front leg ready to hit the ball a mile.  

Ever since the day this boy was born he has been good at sports. He likes all sports too.  Just look at his out fit.  He is wearing a football jersey, basketball shorts and playing baseball!

Kyle is 30!

Kyle turned 30 in July.  We had a great celebration as a family!  It was nothing extravagant or super special, but it was fun.  Grant is way into birthdays and had fun going shopping.  He also helped me make Kyle's cake.  We wrapped Kyle's presents and then 30 seconds later Grant made him open them. He couldn't stand the excitement.

We have oodles of wrapping paper and gift bags in storage.  I refused to go buy a bunch when we are still in this little apartment.  Grant thought it was hilarious that we wrapped some of Daddy's presents in newspaper.  

A few days before we had gone shopping mostly for Kyle's birthday.  Kyle and Grant found these matching hats.  This is all Grant wanted to get his dad for his birthday.  Kyle knew it was coming because for two days Grant was wearing his hat and would say, "on your birthday you will be so happy because we will match."  Kyle did a good job pretending to be excited.

As a side note the first birthday I celebrated with Kyle was when he turned 17. 

A Busy Summer

I apologize for falling off the face of the blogger planet.  It has been a busy summer.  We have been enjoying our "free" swimming pool at our apartment complex.  We go swimming at least once a week. In June I started a new job and I am working 4 days a week.  I was previously doing PRN work, which was nice but not at all consistent.  I have Wednesday's off and that has turned into a Mom and Son Day.  We go to the library, we go for walks, we go swimming, we went to the movies, we have stayed home and played non stop!  We also usually end up doing laundry or house work too.  It has been so much fun to play!

In July, we finally sold Kyle's big Dodge truck.  I say finally because we needed to sell it back in May when we sold our house.  The money we made off the truck we used to break even on the house.    We miss the truck, but on the way to Utah to sell it the thing over heated and one of the filter clogged.  We almost didn't make it! It all worked out in the end!  We are so grateful!

In August, my mom came up to visit and we played non stop for 5 days!  It was so nice to have her out of school to play.  I am sad she had to go back. I think Grandma's should never have to work. It is not fair!

My normal blogging day is Sunday.  I usually would always get up at least one post on Sunday.  Our stake has recently issued a challenge to index 1.2 million names before the end of the year.  As of August 1st our ward alone indexed more the 140,000.  Our stake has indexed about 775,000 names as of August 1st.  It has been fun to be a part of such a huge project.  I have not indexed thousands of names, but I am trying to do my part.  Unfortunately, I usually index on Sunday's.  It has taken away from the blogging.

I hope to be back for a while.  I have been going through my pictures and I have lots of fun pictures to post.  Keep checking back!

This book is so informative.  I learned so much!  I am in the middle of the 6 week challenge and I feel so great!  I will post a full review when I get done with the 6 week challenge.
