San Diego Zoo

As promised here is another post about our family trip to California. We thought Grant would like the zoo and to see all the animals. Kyle felt like he had been deprived by not ever going to see a "real" zoo. (Hoggle Zoo doesn't count in his book)

We liked the San Diego Zoo. It had a ton of animals! There was a fun kid zoo where they had some TAME animals out for the kids to pet. Grant loved that part! But the tigers, lions, bears, snakes, and birds are the same in California as they are in Utah. They just sit around and do nothing! The apes were being fed so they were more active and Grant liked the little baby ape.

Here is the difference between the two zoo's. San Diego is one of the "largest zoo's in the world" and not because it has MORE animals but rather it is so LARGE you have to HIKE to each animal exhibit. Kyle and I were so exhausted by the end. There were elevators through out parts of the zoo because to make a trail would literal be vertical. They had warning signs on some trails saying "strollers and wheel chairs not recommended." Needless to say we had a great time, but Kyle and I have no desire to go back. We will stick with the local zoo.
